Mark Malkovich IV,
Mark Malkovich IV has been associated with the Newport Music Festival in various capacities since he was a teenager. For 25 years he served as Director of Marketing and Development for the Festival, and assisted his father, General Director Dr. Mark P. Malkovich III, in the artistic and budgetary planning. In 2008 he assumed the role of General Manager and, since his father’s passing in 2010, has become responsible for every aspect of the festival’s current operation.
Malkovich worked for the Palm Beach Festival from the 1984-86 seasons as the marketing and public relations manager. He then assumed a role at Angel/EMI Records in Los Angeles as the Advertising and Public Relations Manager from 1986-1988. He has spent over 30 years in music-related industries.
He is a graduate of the Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island and Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He is active in sports and the outdoors and was a champion rower during his collegiate career. He is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island’s 1998 Sigma Class. Born in New York City, Malkovich spent five years as a youth living in Belgium and now resides in Newport, Rhode Island. He enjoys contacts with artists from all over the world and has in-depth knowledge of chamber music repertoire.
He was awarded a certificate of excellence by the Governor of Rhode Island for his work with the Newport Music Festival. He was also named to grant elevation panels by both the State of Connecticut Commission on the Arts and, for two consecutive years, the National Endowment of the Arts in Washington, D.C.
In 2016 Mark was honored by The Preservation Society of Newport County with The Laurel Award for Artisanship, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in support if its mission.
He currently serves as Secretary of the board of directors for the Veterans Memorial Auditorium Foundation in Providence.
