“My Music” with Dr. Mark Malkovich to premiere on Classical 95.9 FM WCRI

 

 

Newport, RI—“My Music” with Dr. Mark Malkovich, a one-hour weekly radio program, will premiere this Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 8 p.m. on Classical 95.9 FM WCRI.

 

Dr. Malkovich is the well-know general director of the Newport Music Festival for the past 34 seasons.  The program will feature his favorite music from a collection of over 15,000 disks, including rarities from around the world. “I love to share music,” Malkovich explains. “My favorite is discovering unusual music and artists which are unknown.  This program is a dream come true for me—Classical 95.9 WCRI has been a joy to work with and it shares my devotion to classical music.”

 

Classical 95.9 WCRI and its sister station News Radio 1180 WCNX are owned by Judson Group, Inc., a company which includes the son and grandsons of broadcasting pioneer Ted Jones, founder of Charles River Broadcasting Company and Boston’s legendary classical music station WCRB.  Judson Group acquired Classical 95.9 WCRI from Charles River Broadcasting in 2006 and is committed to carrying on the Ted Jones tradition of radio excellence. “This show gives our listeners a chance to hear stories and music from Dr. Malkovich’s vast career with artists in classical music,” Jamie Jones says. “With this show listeners will learn as they listen and enjoy beautiful classical music.”

 

“My Music” with Dr. Mark Malkovich is presented by Toyota and Hyundai of Newport and Salve Regina University.  It will follow “Conducting Conversations,” a popular show about local arts, hosted by Mike Maino at 7 p.m.  Both programs this Sunday will feature music and anecdotes from Dr. Malkovich’s good and legendary friend Victor Borge, whose 99^th birthday
